Electric Superhighway
Electric Love (Coming May 2010)

Biography

Bill McGruddy is a London based performer, recording artist, composer and producer, with many years experience as a front man / vocalist. He’s developed his own unique style, infused with charisma and star quality, and his performances are moody, evocative, smouldering and always engaging.

Kicking off his career in the mid 90’s as vocalist and musical director for European touring ‘The Doors’ tribute show, Bill performed across Europe to 10,000 capacity venues and 25,000 capacity festivals, made regular TV and radio appearances and scored features in the national tabloid newspapers.

In the late 90’s, after meeting writer and producer Rich Mowatt (aka Solarstone) Bill progressed to performing and recording electronic music. Together they produced a clutch of electronic classics, including  Z2 ‘I Want You’ - a massive club hit released on Platipus Recordings, and 2nd Element ‘Underwaterfall’ – an avant-garde chillout masterpiece, released on Tigershade.

Through the early 2000’s, Bill appeared as vocalist and writer with other successful electronic artists producing a string of underground club hits, including collaborations with Phats and Small ‘Woman of Angels’ (Manifesto) and remixes for mainstream act Sash!- both receiving plenty of airplay.

In 2005 Bill became involved in composition and music production for film and documentaries, the first fruits being ‘Barcelona Burnout’ which was played on rotation on satellite channel ‘Men and Motors’ (B7 Enterprises / Ignite New Media). He then proceeded to write the soundtrack for ‘Playing with Fire’ (Lucida Films), which was distributed worldwide. Bill’s compositions have featured in many BBC television programs, and he has even been commissioned to compose for a global Emirates campaign.

With a hunger to return to the stage, Bill founded underground indie band ‘The Southern Electrics’, who released an album and two singles with MI5 Recordings / Universal. The band exploded onto the live circuit, touring in Carling Academy venues and playing at large music festivals crowds of up to 25,000, including a performance at Glastonbury. The band received BBC radio play and had live sessions broadcast on TV and radio, including an impromptu performance with The Big Town Playboys and Jools Holland on his BBC Radio 2 show.  The video for ‘Electric Superhighway’ was rotated on many satellite music channels, and the band received rave reviews across the national press. The Southern Electrics split in 2008.

And so to the present. Bill and Solarstone rekindled their writing partnership in 2009, with several tracks forthcoming on Solarstone’s 2010 album, and together they recently completed filming the video for the single ‘Electric Love’, which is set for release May 2010.
